Ryan Reynolds has revealed what he believes to the be the biggest Oscars snub of all time.

Speaking on Variety‘s Awards Circuit Podcast, the Deadpool & Wolverine star said that he wants to see more comedies recognised by the Academy, which then led him to share his biggest snub.

“One of the greatest, most, greatest injustices is that Eddie Murphy doesn’t have an Oscar for The Nutty Professor,” he said.

Also on the podcast, Reynolds revealed that he and Hugh Jackman are teaming up for another film that is unrelated to Marvel.

After being asked if he’d like to one day host the Oscars, he replied: “It would be a dream to do it one day. But I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel. That’s it.”

The actor didn’t reveal any plot details at this stage, but has said he will be working on the project for the next year.

The film will also mark Reynolds third project with Levy following Deadpool 3, Free Guy and The Adam Project.

Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge success in cinemas, with Reynolds and Blake Lively recently becoming the first married couple to top the US box office since Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.

With Deadpool & Wolverine having a top spot, and Lively’s It Ends With Us earning a second, it marks the first time the feat has been achieved since Die Hard 2 and Ghost took up the top two spots in 1990.

In a three-star review of Deadpool & Wolverine, NME wrote: “Despite the A-list distractions (no spoilers here), Deadpool & Wolverine is really all about Reynolds and Jackman. In fact, it’s really all about Reynolds – with Jackman doing a heroic job of playing the surly straight man trying to keep up with Reynolds’ sweary killer clown. The first two Deadpool films were funny and violent and original, but this one shows Marvel’s most gloriously inappropriate superhero at his very best and worst.”

Recently, Reynolds also opened up about why he had to cut Rob McElhenney’s cameo from Deadpool & Wolverine.
