Neil Young & Crazy Horse have announced an upcoming archival album, ‘Early Daze’.

This past weekend, Neil Young took to his Neil Young Archives website to announce the upcoming record, which was recorded in 1969 with Crazy Horse. The album is due to arrive on June 28 via Reprise Records, and is now available for pre-order.

‘Early Daze’, per the Neil Young Archives, “showcases the band’s unique style at the end of the 1960s, capturing the essence of their live performances and their contribution to the evolution of rock & roll.”

‘Early Daze’ will comprise 10 songs, including a total of six unreleased tunes from Crazy Horse’s early line-up of guitarist Danny Whitten, drummer Ralph Molina, bassist Billy Talbot, keyboardist Jack Nitzsche and Young.

Songs like ‘Everbody’s Alone’, ‘Cinnamon Girl’ and ‘Birds’ will receive releases with different mixes.

The track list for Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s ‘Early Daze’ is:

  1. ‘Dance Dance Dance’
  2. ‘Come On Baby Let’s Go Downstairs’ (Unreleased version)
  3. ‘Winterlong’ (Unreleased version)
  4. ‘Everybody’s Alone’ (Different mix)
  5. ‘Wonderin” (Unreleased version)
  6. ‘Cinnamon Girl’ (Original 7″ mono mix)
  7. ‘Look at All The Things’ (Unreleased version)
  8. ‘Helpless’ (Unreleased version)
  9. ‘Birds’ (Unreleased stereo mix)
  10. ‘Down By The River’ (Unreleased version with alternate vocals)

‘Early Daze’ will be available on CD, digital and vinyl formats. Two vinyl packages will be available: a standard black vinyl, and a limited edition clear vinyl that comes with an exclusive poster.

In February, Crazy Horse revealed their new album ‘FU##IN’ UP’, which contains songs from the band’s 50 year career, freshly recorded for 2024. The album arrived in April, and the band are currently on tour in North America until May 23. Tickets are on sale here.

The band also last released music in 2021 with ‘Barn’, which NME gave four stars: “As Young wrote in his 2012 memoir Waging Heavy Peace: “There is a big wind blowing today and I’m part of it. I want to make a difference.” This record lives up to those words. Of all the messages we should listen to on this album, the overriding one is that Neil Young remains as vital as he always has been.”
